New Delhi: Officers of Central Items and Providers Tax (CGST) Mumbai East committee detected Items and Service Tax (GST) Evasion of Rs 40.5 Cr. on fee of Wazir X Crypto Forex and have recovered Rs 49.2 Cr in money as GST, curiosity & Penalty on Thursday (December 30) from Zanmai Labs Pvt. Ltd.
At the moment, Zanmai Labs Pvt. Ltd are managing WazirX cryptocurrency trade utility in India.
WRX platform and WazirX cash are owned by M/s Binance Funding Co. Ltd, Seychelles.

WRX platform and WazirX-Buying and selling of cryptocurrency is finished in two methods:

The WRX cash are required to be bought from WazirX platform by the dealer in INR. The Taxpayer is charging fee on every transaction in cryptocurrency from purchaser and vendor each.
The platform offers choice to the dealer to transact in INR or WRX cash. In instances, when the dealer opts for transaction in INR, the fee charged is @0.2% of buying and selling quantity. The Taxpayer is paying GST on such fee acquired. Nonetheless, in instances the place the dealer opts for transaction in WRX cash, the fee charged is @0.1% of buying and selling quantity and so they weren’t paying GST on such fee.
The Taxpayer was pursued to pay GST on fee collected in WRX coin transactions and requested to submit particulars of such fee collected from their clients.
Subsequently, the Taxpayer vide their letters dated 29.12.2021 and 30.12.2021 intimated that in response to the continued enquiry by Mumbai East, they’ve discharged the GST legal responsibility on transaction charges collected on WRX transactions and paid GST amounting to Rs. 40,51,03,412/- as GST, Rs 2,59,34,207 curiosity and Rs 6,07,65,512 as penalty overlaying interval from March, 2020 to Nov, 2021.
